Hello Neighbors. We JUST NOW heard about a Notice of Application that was made regarding a residential dwelling on Lake Drive to be 31.5' tall. Not sure we have an actual idea of just how high that might be. We did not get one of these letters of notification. This is not board-related, but neighborhood-related. We were told today is the deadline for anyone who is not in agreement with this idea to speak up to the county. We have heard nothing about it. We worry about the precedence this may set for people wanting to build higher to get the best view, and then perhaps start looking at removing trees. We are feeling a bit pessimistic about this. Change is hard and we are seeing a lot of it in Sisters and in Panoramic. We hope the neighbors on Lake Drive received this notification. We know the person that shared it with us, really will not be any more or less affected than us, and our living on Green Ridge Loop. The future homes are a worry. This one would not affect us. We do recall stories of folks coming home and the forest was gone where a new home was being built, that was our place. We purchased from the builder. Another family saw the framing going up on a much taller home than theirs that would certainly and did block their view.
What we were told and received just today is this; "We received it through USPS from the county. It’s a “Notice of Application”. Today is the deadline to oppose it. To oppose it you can email Audrey Stuart at Audrey.Stuart@deschutes.org. The property address where they wish to have the 31.5-foot dwelling is 69715 Lake Drive and the file number is 247-21-000299-AD. Wanting something to compare this to, we googled the standard height of a two-story home, and it states 18' to 20' is the standard height for a two-story home, so 31.5' would be quite tall. It also stated depending on the type of usage, and the ceiling space, a standard three-story home is about 33'. That gives a good reference. Deschutes County does not want to hear from someone living on Green Ridge loop perhaps, as Lake Drive is behind us, and would not obstruct our view, but when will the next home be built that might? We recall the fiasco over the cell tower, the height, and the possible loss of trees. It did not happen however might have had neighbors not spoke up.
We did not receive a notification either and we down the road on Lake.
