Perhaps we should remember Annie's request in being respectful to each other. We all have our opinions/feelings on the roads and none of us are wrong for those. It's okay to have a conversation about our differences of opinions but this is just throwing jabs and frankly, it's disrespectful.
@cathyhenninger5 I think Glenn cleared up that he didn't file a lawsuit. In fact I don't believe anyone has stated a lawsuit has been filed. Everything has been very vague from the board. How is it Glenn's fault that the holes are getting bigger on Buckhorn? Perhaps you should take out your frustration on the board as they are responsible for the maintenance and repairs.
You didn't mischaracterize my position, you said a lawsuit was filed and I filed it. Both incorrect and I didn't see an acknowledgment of that or an apology.
You need to be a little more careful about this son.
Glenn, I thought I had acknowledged that in the previous post that I may have provided erroneous information. In case that was not clear I apologize to you and anyone that may have been misled by my words. I will await further clarification from the board about the nature of the current legal threat to the project and hopefully we can get some information from them soon on this. And by the way, I am turning 60 this year and I am not your son.
It seems like you should take over the project Glenn, since you have better ideas than the board that’s been working on it for 2 years. Sounds like you agree the roads need work and you like the Otto Seal choice so figure out the rest. Instead of letting the project stall while the costs rise, can you contribute to helping it follow through so we all avoid the legal costs???
Glenn, my apologies if I have mischaracterized your position. I will see if we can get some greater clarity from the board about exactly what the obstacle is as I think I previously misunderstood the nature of the problem. From what I currently understand there has not actually been a suit filed, but there does exist some form of legal threat that has temporarily halted progress on the project.
Mr. Lowe, it was not me. I'd appreciate it if you confirmed your facts before putting my name on it. No harm no foul, but someone else might not look at it that way. I did ask the County Commissioners to get involved since they are responsible for appointing and overseeing the road district directors. We clearly need help here and I'd hoped they'd step in before somebody filed a lawsuit. Oh well.
I do support the lawsuit, and will support it financially if asked. There was no doubt this was coming. The Board has been thumbing its nose at us, mocking me, for years. The arrogance and condescending attitude from two Board member has been palpable. I guess now we'll get an answer eh?
One good thing - now our insurance company might have to get involved and defend the lawsuit at little cost to the road district. The Board has to submit the claim of course, which I assume they have done. But they bear watching on that, we should all contact the Board about it. Either way I believe that this "funding plan" will finally be abandoned as part of a settlement, hopefully a quick one. The district simply can't afford to litigate it, and there's nothing in it for the district to do so. Each district elector could bring one of these claims, and as sure as there was one who did, there are more who would if necessary.
Or we could simply hold a levy vote and live with the outcome. Nothing else makes sense at this point. If the current Board maintains its refusal to do so they can resign. No loss to the district, and then we could get back on track with a real, transparent, fair paving plan.
About the money wasted on this so far, I'm hopeful that at the end of all this our new Board will make a claim under our Directors' Errors and Omissions policy to recover the funds misspent on this over the last couple of years.
I definitely don't want the communities hard earned money wasted. The board doesn't know who's brought forth the legal action or does it have to be kept confidential at this time? This has to be stressful on the board and I do feel for them even though I oppose the project. I wish everyone the best, I truly do!
@Alex and Melissa Cretsinger I'm glad you posted this as we were unable to attend also. @Whitney Lowe why will this significantly drive up costs? Will the money the district has go towards legal counsel? This frightens me that Glenn Brown's statements were correct.
