I am writing this in response to the gentleman that stated those who objected to the validation process are dragging this out and causing the project costs to go up when we all took a democratic vote.
I am sorry that you feel this is being drug out by those that oppose, however, if you are in favor of this road project you should want it done legally.
First, we did not take a democratic vote. We took a vote to “gauge support for the board proposal”. See Meeting Minutes for May 24 and June 1, page two. It is not right to send out a ballot telling homeowners this is to “gauge support” then turn around and say we’re moving forward with the project because there were more votes in favor of improving the roads. When using a bond to fund a project, which is what the board is proposing, the bond must be approved by the electors. We never voted on a bond to fund the project, we voted to “gauge support”.
Second, we have the right to object the Petition for Validation. As stated above, we never voted on the bond. Also, in the Petition for Validation and Resolution 2021-2, it states, “may not exceed the estimated cost of the Project”. The cost of the project WILL exceed the estimates provided. We have been told this over and over that the project will cost more.
Those that objected to the Petition for Validation do not have the intentions to “drag” this out and are not the cause of the project costs going up. Inflation has caused the project costs to go up, not those who oppose the project. Our intentions for objecting to the Petition is to make sure everything is being done legally.
