$10,000 legal fees
$6,000 engineering costs
$2000 ballot expenses
close to $20,000 of tax payer money spent on not maintaining the roads.
Back in 2019 Doug attended a Board meeting and he came home and said “you will not believe what the board is trying to do, and when I raised questions I was verbally attacked”. At that time I thought the best thing to do would be to put up signs to let neighbors know what was going on. Let people know they faced possible assessments, liens and foreclosures. My signs were promptly removed and I was called a liar. I contacted the county, an attorney, the Oregon ethics board, anyone I could think of because it just seemed wrong. And it is wrong. Morally wrong to force your neighbors to buy a product they don’t want and can’t afford.
Tonya asked the question why does this website exist? I think she was alluding to the fact that it would have been nice to have information about the validation process posted here. But the board is only transparent when it suits them. They have attorneys, paid for with our tax dollars, to advise them of their legal responsibilities.
We’ve lived here 21 years and for the past 3, instead of living a quiet life in paradise, I’ve been battling this Board. It’s exhausting.
And guess what neighbors? Assessments, liens and foreclosures are coming. The Board has been silent. I’m assuming because the lawyers have advised them to keep quiet. It’s rich to get on here and see Whitney’s wife telling us how to communicate properly when she is the only person to scream the F word at a public meeting.
It appears as though avenues to fight have been exhausted and we’ll all be digging into our savings or taking out loans or waiting to die to pay off a lien to pay for this assessment. Although I am asking myself, why Kitsap bank out of Washington? Is it because other local lending institutions said no? Because legal or not it’s simply wrong ?? At any rate…. I tried my best to help the 72 other neighbors be heard. Thanks, Shiela
I am with you Shiela. I wish I would have been more involved in the road meetings and lately I have had to try to avoid them because I found myself getting quite frustrated because questions and concerns I had weren't being addressed and if you are against the otta seal you're a peon.
You are correct when I asked why we even had a website. It seems as though the more important information is not put on the website. For example, a board member is moving and a position is opened, or there's a court hearing for the validation. It's extremely frustrating and it quite concerning.
I really don't know what more I can do but express my frustrations and concerns but honestly, that doesn't seem to do much good.
I still don't understand why the validation hearing date wasn't discussed at the road meeting, emailed, mailed, put on the website, on the Facebook group or on the community board. Well, I have some speculation why it wasn't put on any of those forms of communication. But, one should not assume.
