Usually something like this is posted in public notices. I'm sorry, but this feels a bit "shady". Why wouldn't this be posted on the website, at the mailboxes or on the Facebook page, or all of the places mentioned? Also, why doesn't it state which position is available? Why would someone apply if they don't know the position their applying for? Has the position already been filled but the board must make a public announcemnt so they're covering their butts? Sorry for the speculation but this just seems very odd!

Thank You
Please stop by our house if you guys are out and about.
Happy 4th and Enjoy,
Jim
Okay, let's close for a couple of days and vow to have a good 4th with family and friends.
Contrary, to the belief of some in the forum, some folks will still call Deb and I and other board members friends, or at least humans.
We are spending the 4 with friends and 5 th with kids and grand kids
No amount of harassment from the few are taking that away from my family.
Next point
NO ONE ever said you had to attend board meetings, why that statement?
Next It takes more than 2 minutes to post on the web. Regardless , of how it's worded someone will find fault in what is done.
Have a good 4th
Jim, I am sorry you took Tonya's words that way. I can see where it came off accusatory. We also found the Nugget announcement odd, and then we knew who it was, as I am FB friends with Annie and saw her video yesterday afternoon as it popped up live while I was on, AFTER learning it was in the paper. We DO not read the paper weekly. I do agree, whether it had to be done or not, as the Newspaper is a public forum, and probably the least that needs to be done, even if someone pulled strings to get it in there, it could have gone out in a quick memo, and using Whitney as an excuse when you are on here writing now, is really not an excuse. You or Nyle (who never speaks up ever and people note that also) but to have the residents informed before the "rumor" of the newspaper came out, would have benefited all of you and the residents. I know that people have come off rude, (and have been rude, on both sides of the fence of this road issue) and something like this could have been thought out and handled differently and avoided the speculation, but it was not. You mention the way you have been treated above and knowing how folks have acted lately, you think the board would have thought this out and posted here like you are now or sent a group email. Annie and Whitney cannot possibly be the only persons able to do that? We did not see it in the paper, as we do not read it regularly, we used to, but do not any longer, that is not your fault, I know that. I did ask a question also, and I think people get upset as Whitney is not a board member and does handle all of the technical aspects of things and many times answering questions. What is going to happen with the next board? The website is awesome and the fact that Q&A was opened up, it does seem that Whitney gets the bulk of it. That is why I suggested a while back on FaceBook, with a thread getting out of control, for people to take their concerns (& kudos) here and ask for one of you, as Whitney was answering all of the questions on the FB page, which has nothing to do with the road board, but as assumed, it does go that way. The admins said they talked and then blocked further comments. It used to be on next door that people would ask questions. Gary was the lead on that, so answered them, then came this and the FB. We are the Nextdoor leads and have been looking for someone to take over that. Yes, I wish the Rollins and MANY others had attended more meetings in the past. I have told MANY people that, to the point of being rude, I am sure. In fact, I spoke with Tonya about it, as she had a great point with the statements made, not backed by evidence, and they have three generations of auto mechanics there, which could have been helpful. We have lived here almost 20 years and between us and our teens, have had three brand new vehicles and have never had front-end issues nor any other issues, and Henry nor I go over 20 mph, in fact, I am that one that angers people going 10-15 mph. I cannot speak to our now adult mature 28-year-old son, as he road around here on multiple motorcycles and caused hell at times, and got taken to the homes where he caused issues and taken to the sheriff's dept, hence the excellent young man he is now! I mentioned it to both Glenn and Jerry Greco in an email once. Jerry was a board member for 10 years, and I have heard that Glenn either is or was an attorney. I stated something to the effect that I wish they have been involved in the meetings as they both had good input. Glenn got very upset with me and felt I accused him of not doing enough when he has done more than any resident. It is my understanding that he has been contacting the board and met with you over the last year. He needs to stop saying that if not true, as that could be a violation if you met with him without calling a meeting. People tend to get involved when a change happens, that is par for just about every industry. They have great input and it has been appreciated, as have so many others. There are many that write as their emotions are high, and yes, it is wrong. I have done it in the past, I do not believe so with the board, as I liked everyone and have attended meetings and was permitted to reach out to people (Ronni and I) to assist in getting votes returned, as many people just tossed them aside. When I have done that, I have felt bad, as I have a feeling you will also, as this is not you! We all need to check our emotions ALL the time before engaging in any conversations especially if we are already upset. Having lived here almost 20 years now, I will say this has been one of the most contentious two years of board meetings ever, and our third road improvement attempt, (long before just being on ZOOM.) Nyle mentioned once how few people attended meetings, (in a letter to the county) prior to him being on the board, I believe he attended one meeting, and although he owns in here, has not lived here over 15 years as he once stated. There was a family there, the Morgans, who had several sons, all sons I believe, so when ours were gone, their children helped out as we needed. I am not aware of any working young people out here now! People know those things. It does get long-term residents upset to hear even little white lies. I have also told maybe the former board, not sure if you were in on those emails, that allowing people to scream at others during a zoom meeting should have been STOPPED immediately by the President, as that is in the official rule book. You know who calmed people down and stopped these things, me once, but usually Lee. I actually interrupted a tirade by a special committee person, so ask him to please be quiet and allow a board member to answer the question. People being on the special committee did not make them road board members, and several of them (2) have yelled at residents on more than one occasion, and perhaps zoom was a good place to do that thinking you are anonymous. Also when Doug Ganon was upset at a meeting, it was my understanding (I was not there) that the other "hot" person, was not a Board Commissioner, but a Special Committee member. I will say, that having been his first or second meeting with the new board, did not know who was getting upset with him. I wish I would have been there, as it sounds like he may have been justified. (not in hanging fliers afterward!) We have NEVER seen in the years we have been here, having a special committee formed. It proved quite helpful. The Board of Commissioners yes are all volunteer positions, that all three (or four) volunteered for. One of you mentions that at EVERY meeting. As soon as someone disagrees it is said, and people are getting tired of it. That was the choice of the board to take those positions. Annie and Nyle have both stated on the record that they wanted road improvements done. We knew months before Nyle sent in his letter of interest that he would like a position on the board as Annie was sure he would want to, That was fine, as he said, rarely does anyone single person apply, that is the truth. You have been a gentleman and provided the information for Henry and me to go see the otta seal. If we would say one thing was wrong, it was not putting it off when asked by two (young married women with families) that neither they nor their spouses were back to work yet, and they were worried financially. Honestly, the roads were in the worse condition from the work done to calm those complaining about dust, (the dust that suddenly appeared AFTER they moved in, not present when they purchased and moved in) and that contractor (that Dennis spoke of) should have been made to fix all of that awful damage or maybe he or they could have been sued for those damages. I am sure if threatened with their reputation, it may have happened. Then plugging it with concrete seems to have made it worse. Anyway, the COVID-19 fears of young people just starting out in life, should and could have been considered, and restarted the conversation where we are now. I think this pause will give folks more time to think about things, calm their nerves, look at their finances, and attend meetings, which we should start up in public again since our state is open now, and folks can wear masks now and hopefully, the judge will agree with the assessment and give his or her validation and then plans for next spring can begin. In-person, without allowing folks yelling at others and having Whitney answering board questions that he should not be answering. Other committees that I am on (I am not on a road board one, nor do I want to be) are requiring in-person meetings now with officers on video. I think ZOOM became a cesspool at times. In the last couple of meetings, I believe it was only Ronni and me that was on video. NOT that it matters with the general residents, but I think this experience can be used for teaching residents WHY meetings can be important, and to read what the agenda is and read the minutes. NOT to ask others (it seems to happen to me quite often) and to go to their board. I would offer to help draft that reminder and encourage people to read minutes and agendas and make certain they have the email to contact you and you them. I would like the links to all being on the web to stop, as many people (my husband for one, hates getting on and having to enter to comment) do not go there. Sending them out the week before as was mentioned by this committee would be done, is perfect. The agenda soon to follow. QUIT reminding people you are volunteers as everyone knows that, and to keep the minutes and agenda brief, not three or four pages as has happened a few times. Do not remind everyone that there is no time for questions or keep the meeting to a firm one hour (unless that is in the rule book) and allow questions and concerns to be addressed. You could have people submit questions or concerns that they know they have, prior to the meeting. Of course, something may come up at the meeting. The special committee helped the board out a lot with the roads, especially yourself. We are aware of that, as are many. Maybe time for no more special road committee, unless there is a need for them again in the spring, but it seems that will be members of the board will be able to make the calls since the format is there. I hope I am not making you feel worse, Jim. I know your speaking firm like that is not you. I know you became a road board member at a very contentious time in road board history. I think you had to have known that by the few zoom meetings you attended and some of the in-person meetings. Let's start meeting in public, should people not be able to come, then they will have to read the minutes, not ask Whitney for the video afterward. Maybe set a date for this to start in person and I certainly can write something up and get it out there. This really is a good example of WHY meetings are held for the residents and why participation is necessary...at times. I know there have been meetings where the board and maybe one person shows up, it is held and called or no one shows up and it is called. NOT to this board, I bet! We used to meet in homes. I am not sure that is something that the SDRA suggests, but in homes was a bit nicer. Even just down the street at the Forestry Department is convenient. Driving to Rays on the snowy days, there were several residents I was concerned about. Hopefully, we can keep them closer to home, in a home perhaps or at the Forestry Department. As far as the website, if there is a cost figure it into the budget, and keep it open, as Lazy River does. Maybe we can ask them who keeps it up. It seems very user-friendly, ours does not. That can always be worked on, and perhaps incoming boards will no that they may have some responsibility, in times of questions anyway. However, if it is user-friendly, there does not need to be just one person that can do things on it. Maybe one that can only change important things (by the way, I think the old board is still listed on here) I think talking to Lazy River about it is a great idea. Their website appears very interactive, with good things! Picnics meet and greets, new neighbors, walk days, clean-up days! Putting neighbors back into the neighborhood!! There is no reason one person should run this website, it can be made interactive. Do I know how, NO, but I do not how to use them, and this is not user-friendly. The Q&A has helped. It does get uncivil and I wish people would calm down before speaking or typing. The keyboard can be a dangerous tool. Lots of future discussions to be had. I hope I have not offended, as, believe me, I have in the past, and usually feel pretty bad about it. I try to speak the truth and am sure I do not always, but I do not ever fudge the truth on purpose, I can promise you that. Have a good evening, if you see this. Take a breath and then start over again tomorrow or Monday. Directed at all of us, Jim! ~Kerry on behalf of the two of us, Henry & Kerry
We all live in this community together. Let's try to have a little more community spirit could we? I would really like to see us have some more civility in these discussions. If you have questions about how things are being done, perhaps just start with asking a question like... "I saw a notice in the Nugget for an open board position. Will that be posted on the website or how do we find out more about it?"
Everybody is juggling a number of things in their lives. If you have never worked on a volunteer board you may not realize it is not always easy to get fast responses on everything. Unfortunately I am the only one that is currently maintaining the website and the bulk email communications and I have been out of town for the last 10 days. A more detailed posting of the board position opening will be put on the website and sent out to our email list as soon as it is completed (most likely by Sunday at the latest).

Board Position
I was just made aware that there is a board position available and the only means to find out is if you read The Nugget newspaper. You would also have to read it in its entirety to find this out.
TOO BAD you didn’t ask one of the board members.
This is not my favorite way of handling things. You had time to write this scathing speculation about this “shady” board, but no time to ask a member what was going on.
I personally have commented and sent you guy’s emails in answer to your questions but yet no time to ask. Also, I am getting tire of being called everything but a human from people who don’t go to meetings, don’t read the web site, or just plain don’t ask or try to seek a solution.
If you would have asked;
1. Usually something like this is posted in public notices. The Nugget is considered “Public” notice, in fact we have ran it 2 weeks, for better coverage. Sorry, but the Nugget chooses where the announcements go, not the board. We did not Hide the notice so you would have to read the entire Nugget if that is your accusing the board of doing.
2. IN fact it took a elector to pull some strings to get it in the Nugget so quickly.
3. IMMEDIATELY you go to “SHADY”. Thank you for believing everything the board does is wrong.
4. To your point of why it wasn’t posted on the web site. You never asked why it was not posted on the web. If you had any one of the board would have told you that Whitney is on vacation with limited access to the internet. I personally have communicated with Whitney on this.
5. Are you suggesting a person is hired to keep the web up to the minute? If so let’s discuss in the next board meeting and see if the rest of the folks think this is a worthwhile expense.
6. Board positions are not applied for a specific position. As you will remember, once the board decides who to recommend to the county, then based on the new members time, abilities, background then a position is agreed on by the board. WHY do you assume that you’re thinking of how the process is done without knowing or asking?
7. Has the position already been filled but the board must make a public announcement so they're covering their butts? Thank you once again for accusing the board of misconduct.
8 Sorry for the speculation but this just seems very odd!.
There is no sorry for this kind of mean speculation.
